Information:

Karl is a 22 year old student reading a Masters in Biology. He graduated in 2009 with a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Biology and Chemistry. His main interests are sports, music, natural environment, and politics.

Karl believes that education is a dynamic process that is not limited to lecture rooms and that students should involve themselves and give their contributions to leave university in a better state than they found it. Dedication and commitment are two values that Karl upholds throughout his work.

Before forming part of the KSU executive Karl was Secretary General (2006-2007) and later President of the Science Students’ Society for two consecutive years (2007-2009). Throughout his term as president the organization was awarded the Kokka Innovativa award and placed 1st in the Degree Plus Competition. Karl was also responsible for a reform in the administrative structure of the organisation which eventually lead the organisation to a 6th place in the Office Allocations Report. He is nowadays Honorary President of the same organisation.

Karl was a student representative on the Faculty Board of Science, a post in which he served for 3 years (2006-2009). In March 2010 Karl was elected Senate Representative.

Karl has also been active in the Education Commission. He has represented Science students in this Commission for 3 years. Throughout the last year Karl was president of the commission. This makes Karl the longest serving member of the Education Commission from all its current members.

Throughout the last year Karl also formed part of the KSU executive. As Education Commissioner Karl worked on quality assurance and did his best to make students aware of their rights. Karl also worked to facilitate communication between the students and the University of Malta at the educational level by working closer with the student representatives of each faculty. Karl was also responsible for all policy documents published by KSU in the field of Education.

Between 2009-2010 Karl served as a student representative on the Students' Charter Committee, the Library Committee, and the Student affairs committee. Throughout the same year Karl also chaired the KPS Environmental Committee and was responsible for the organization of the KSU Environmental Fair 2010 amongst other initiatives.

As secretary general of KSU Karl will be working to organize Freshers’ week, and to make Students’ House more environmental friendly amongst many other projects.
