Following reports of the Chamber of Engineers’ filing of a judicial protest against MCAST, KSU and UESA would like to express our concern that once more local engineering courses are being marketed as leading to an Engineering warrant without the endorsement of the Engineering Profession Board.
We are concerned that MCAST is once again irresponsibly misleading students with the impression that the promoted engineering top-up courses lead to the profession of an engineer. As the current situation stands, MCAST engineering degree courses and the proposed Pre-Warrant Qualification course are still subject to modifications following the review process by the external auditing agency ASIIN.
KSU and UESA reiterate the principle of “one profession, one standard” voted on unanimously by the UM Faculty of Engineering student body in an EGM on the 13th September 2018.
