Social Policy Commissioner
Julia is a soon to be B.A. (Hons) Social Policy graduate at the University of Malta.
Over the past two years she has engaged in student activism at University, forming part of Studenti Ħarsien Soċjali (SĦS), occupying the roles of Social Policy Officer, Secretary General and President, this allowing her to carry out a variety of tasks together with view the organisation from different perspectives. During these years, Julia’s main aim was to always act as a voice for her students, doing her utmost to ensure that they were supported and that their University experience was the best it could be.
Activism together with being a Social Policy student have made Julia aware of the number of salient issues both in a national context and also at University, with this acting as her motivation to continue pushing for a positive change.
Her experience in activism has not only helped her grow as an individual but has also brought to her attention just how key activism can be in changing who we are as a society. She believes that it is equally important to strengthen dialogue and ensure that the student’s voice is not only being heard but acted upon and given the value it deserves.
Julia’s vision for the Social Policy Office is to strengthen the bond between KSU, student activists, the organisations, and the students. With this, she looks forward to working on the social wellbeing aspect, the policy implementation and merging them together for one strong social policy office.
