IAESTE is a dynamic international non-governmental organisation that coordinates the exchange of university students for work experience across a broad network of over 80 countries. Jobs are available for a period ranging from 6 weeks to one year in duration. About 10000 traineeship opportunities are exchanged yearly worldwide, mostly offering a technical work experience, but always directly related to the student’s area of study. IAESTE Malta prides itself in offering the largest technical student exchange programme in Malta with around 70 students benefiting from this opportunity during the summer of 2005, the job experiences normally available to students from the University of Malta are in Germany, UK, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, Brazil, Slovenia, Hungary and Greece with prestigious companies such as IBM, Novartis, Philips, Siemens, British Telecom, BBC, Bosch and Ericsson.

IAESTE Malta believes that a full university life is not one restricted to lecture theatres. The organisation offers plenty of opportunities for participation in a broad range of activities and events, which together with the academic aspect, help bring out the best in the student. IAESTE also believes in the importance of exposure to the world of cultures and to a world without frontiers. Apart from the exchange programme, active members have plenty of opportunity in participating in many international conferences and seminars all year round. Activities on and off campus are also quite common. While enjoying a work-experience abroad, a student acquires practical skills, putting into practice what s/he has learnt in class. Exchange is offered on a one to one basis, a traineeship abroad being offered to a Maltese student for each job offered by a Maltese company to a foreign student.
