JEF is a pan-European Youth non-governmental organisation, which does hold to partisan politics, yet works on political issues. Having members in over 35 countries in Europe, it is the main Youth Lobby Group, lobbying the European Parliament.

JEF looks to organising the EU in a federalist structure, that way it is more inclusive of its citizens in the decision making process; the EP has the deciding power; the Union speaks as one voice in Foreign Policy; has common laws on most issues, & each country & region shares its autonomy-making the EU more of a global player, with a more coherent working body, & a forward looking social market economy.

JEF offers all those interested, various international & local opportunities such as seminars, conferences, conventions, training courses, exchanges, stages & the like, wherein they may compliment their education, & expand their knowledge, promoting the organisation's ethos.

JEF is a member of the European Youth Forum & the Union of European Federalists, having close ties with the European Movement International. JEF Malta is a member of KNZ - Kunsill Nazzjonali taz- Zghazagh, KSU - Kunsill Studenti Universitarji, European Movement Malta and the Euro-Med Youth Platform.
