The aim of this fair was to help students learn how to make our world a better place to live, in both small and big ways.

The program of the Fair was very versatile and included both traditional and modern approaches in Environmental Awareness Campaigns.

The media organisation Insite in collaboration with Bird life and KSU organized a clean up event at the Sand dune of White Tower Bay. Over 15 big garbage bags full of plastic material were collected from the area. Another clean up event was organized by JEF Malta, UMGS (University of Malta Geography Students Association), Nature Trust, Greenhouse and Scubed (Science Students’ Society) at Sir Arturo Mercieca Garden, a buffer zone between Wied Għollieqa and University. We would like to thank the cleansing department of the Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs for providing us with hand pickers, gloves, and garbage bags to carry our these events.

A number of site visits were also carried out. These include the visit to the Argotti Botanical Gardens organized by Scubed, the Site visit to Xrobb l-Għaġin organized by UESA (University of Malta Engineering Students Association) in collaboration with Nature Trust, and another Visit at the Nature reserve of Wied Għollieqa organized by UMGS, JEF Malta, Scubed, Greenhouse and Nature Trust.

The organisation UMGS organized an eco-friendly car show through the entire week to promote more energy efficient and sustainable mobility.  Targeting first-time car buyers, a large range of cars with low consumption and emissions specifications were exhibited at the University’s car park 4 opposite the quadrangle.  The display included two hybrid cars, the new Toyota Prius and Honda Insight, which are now available on the local market.  Motorcycles where also exhibited during this show as they offer both an opportunity for lower consumption as well as economising on parking space, traffic congestion and polluting gasses.
