The Study Unit Feedback system involves a short online survey that is completed after each semester, when the study unit course ends. It analyses the general performance of the study unit, the methodology, delivery from the lecturer and method of assessment, among other things.

It is a completely anonymous form and the students are never asked for any personal details. Unfortunately, many students are cautious about participating in such feedback due to a fear of being revealed and penalised for speaking out. The system has ensured that by no means can a student’s details be revealed.

Results of the study unit feedback are not only given to the lecturer/lecturers concerned but also passed on to the heads of Department and Deans of the faculty. This ensures that if the results points to a serious problem in the study unit immediate action can be taken.  This results in the most important step of the Quality Assurance system, where a set of recommendations are debated and if necessary,  decisions are made to improve the study unit enabling students to benefit more.

Although a voluntary service we at KSU feel that every student should participate fully in this anonymous feedback to ensure problems are not ignored but actually listened to and a plan of action formulated. We can now have a say in what we want out of our education system.
