Social Policy Commission
KSU’s Social Policy Commission, also known as KPS brings together all student organisations on Campus, both senate-recognised and observer organisations.  KPS is mainly responsible for the development of KSU’s and student organisations’ social policy both on University-related, national and international issues.  The KSU executive is duty-bound to implement the Commission’s policies with no political discretion in this regard.

KPS meetings are chaired and represented on the KSU executive committee by the Social Policy Commissioner who is elected to the Executive Committee by KPS-represented student organisations.  Administrative work of the Commission is carried out by the Social Policy Coordinator who is directly elected in the general KSU elections by the student body.  The duty of both the Commissioner and Coordinator is to implement decisions of the Commission via KSU.

KPS’ main aims are to draft and implement policies related to students and student life.  Examples of these policies are the sustainability policy, inclusion policy, the pre-budget document and others as the need arises.  This year, it is also working towards the formation of a Student’s Manual.

KPS also organises various awareness campaigns throughout the year especially the Health Awareness Campaign, Human Rights Awareness Campaign and Environmental Sustainability Campaign.
