Nursing Shortages: A need for better use of Private Industry resources

KSU has long been aware that as correctly stated by the Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses (MUMN) the country is suffering a shortage of nursing staff. Proof of this shortage is the fact that Health Authorities have begun a campaign specifically aimed at attracting the interest of foreign nursing staff to work in Malta. KSU thus acknowledges the full validity of the arguments pushed forward by MUMN as regards the limited number of students accepted for the course of nursing.

KSU meets with the Prime Minister and Minister Dolores Cristina

KSU has on Wednesday met with the Prime Minister, Dolores Cristina, Minister for Education and Parliamentary Assistant Franco Debono to discuss various proposals and ideas KSU has put forward. Amongst the issues discussed there was a Quality Assurance Agency where the importance of this becoming a reality in Malta was stressed by KSU.

KSU 's reaction to the MATSEC and SEC results

KSU positively welcomes the statistics concerning the MATSEC results which show that students are taking these exams seriously and managing to succeed. KSU hopes that the high pass rate signifies an increase in students at University level in the coming years.

Evenings on Campus

Now in its 18th year, Evenings on Campus returns to the Msida campus after a two-year sojourn at the Valletta campus. The summer festival will this year open on 25 July and run till 10 August 2010.

Although the programme is still being finalised, this year's edition is packed with all the usual items Evenings on Campus enthusiasts have come to look forward to: film, music, dance, visual arts as well as literary evenings. The general theme chosen this year is 'Coming of Age: Self-discovery.'
